SLO happy to be in california
a couple weeks ago, i was texting my friend while we were both on spring break. she was telling me about how much she enjoyed being home in california, and how her hometown, san luis obispo was so beautiful. i was complaining about my snowy conditions in colorado while she was soaking up the sun in california. she laughed and simply said, “just fly out here and we’ll go to the beach.” without a second thought i said, “ok.” and just like that we bought a round-trip ticket to california.
a week and a half later we were on an airplane flying to santa maria, california. we stopped in solvang, california for the day ate some delicious traditional breakfast cakes (i have no idea what they are called), walked around, and even stopped in a store and got my aura photographed—which was a m a z i n g.
we drove through luscious rolling green hills filled with happy cows munching away on grass, and took the windy road to her house that sits on top of a hill. her backyard was filled with succulents, strung lights hanging lazily, lemon trees waiting to be plucked, and even more views. i looked at her my jaw basically on the floor, “this is where you live?” the next day we napped on the beach, ate veggie wraps, drank coconut chai tea, ate ravioli and sat by a crackling fire. i saw the fog slowly creep in from the beach as our weekend in paradise slowly came to a close.
before i moved to las vegas, i prayed and prayed and whined to my parents scared to death i wouldn’t make any friends. my dad kept telling me, '‘gabby stop stressing out and these friends will gravitate to you.” he was right, im so thankful for sheridan and this weekend.
